Choral Spectacular 2018

9 Sunshine Coast Catholic Schools perform a Choral Spectacular!

On Tuesday 31st July, 12 Choirs from 9 Sunshine Coast Catholic Schools came together to work with ‘Choir of Hard Knocks’ director DR Jonathon Welch AM, in celebration of Catholic Education Week and the Year of Youth.

Catholic Education Week is held annually to celebrate and promote the distinctive mission and ethos of Catholic Schools in Queensland. The Choral Spectacular Concert, also held during this week, is an opportunity for like minded students to come together from different schools to celebrate each other and their talent.

This year the concert was proudly hosted by Unity College in Caloundra, with a full day of workshops before the final performance. The workshops were ran by multi award winning singer, conductor, and teacher Jonathon Welch. The day allowed students to work together, showcasing their skills and learning new techniques to warm up and perform to an audience.

Not only did the students learn valuable industry skills they also got to enjoy what they love, with students who share the same passions. Cais Zwolsman from Unity College acknowledges his love for music and how it helps him in other areas of his learning; “music improves my confidence and makes me a happier person”.
